As advances in biotechnology lower the barriers to engineering pathogens, our mission is to ensure humanity’s detection and alert systems are ready. As part of this mission, our Detection team is building a pathogen-agnostic pandemic early warning system. We operate the world’s largest metagenomic biosurveillance network, which performs daily sequencing of wastewater samples and nasal swabs to screen for emerging pathogens. We’re looking for a Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to build, scale, and maintain the infrastructure behind our pandemic monitoring system. We need to automatically and reliably analyze high volumes of sequencing data every week – and we must be secure in the face of determined attackers. In the next year, we need to increase the amount of data we process, while massively reducing our processing time and increasing our reliability. This will put huge demands on our storage, compute, security, and automations – none of these goals can happen without good cloud infrastructure.
